Apparatus

Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair

You don’t need previous Pilates experience to use the apparatus. The low impact exercises will strengthen and lengthen the muscles but they are definitely challenging, you will feel them!

The Pilates apparatus offers a type of resistance known as progressive (variable) resistance: the resistance increases as the spring is expanded and as the spring shortens the resistance decreases.

Many of the exercises throughout the studio set up are the same in principle, however, the intensity and objectives of an exercise can be changed dramatically by increasing or decreasing the tension and the focus varies between each piece.

Exercises become harder not easier as you become more familiar with the subtleties of the exercises and become more aware of your own body.

Whether it is single or mixed apparatus, within each private session I will work with you to ensure you are challenged through all ranges of motion delivering a full body workout which both mobolises and stabilizes your muscles and joints.

“Exercises don’t get easier, they get better”

The Reformer

The Reformer is perhaps the most popular apparatus for lengthening, strengthening and toning. The low impact, high efficiency full body workouts in all ranges of motion can produce effective and rewarding results while protecting your body for the future. It’s raised, wide carriage makes it an ideal choice for all.

It takes gravity out of the equation reducing any pressure on the joints and is effective in easing lower back pain.

‘Change happens through movement and movement heals.’

The Cadillac

The Cadillac is the largest and most luxurious of the apparatus, hence the name! It consists of a rectangular frame with a table, springs and various attachments designed to provide support, assistance and resistance in the exercises. It can be used to create a varied programme that targets different parts of the body.

Like the Reformer, the springs of the Cadillac provide resistance that can change bodies quickly and is very adaptable to different body types and strengths. It is particularly well-suited for older or injured clients due to its raised height as you don’t need to get down on the floor, something that is not easy for everyone.  The Cadillac can offer support and assist in achieving proper form by providing resistance and allowing for different movements.

Practising on the Cadillac can be a great way to enhance strength, flexibility, and coordination and focuses on developing core strength.

‘Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.’

The Wunda Chair

The Wunda Chair resembles a small wooden chair with adjustable springs  providing resistance during exercises and offering various levels of difficulty making it suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

It is used for building strength in the core, legs, and upper body. Improving flexibility and range of motion, particularly in the spine, hips, and shoulders. Exercises on the Wunda Chair engage various muscle groups simultaneously, improving overall strength, stability, and endurance. By engaging the core and emphasizing proper movement mechanics, the Wunda Chair also helps with improving posture and balance..

The Wunda Chair, like the other Pilates apparatus, emphasises controlled movements, proper form, and breath work, creating a balanced approach to fitness.

Whether it is single or mixed apparatus, within each private session I will work with you to ensure you are challenged through all ranges of motion delivering a full body workout which both mobilises and stabilises your muscles and joints.
